..Now coming to my recipe my son brought home some puff pastry, which he made at school they are learning about how to make and how to use all types of pastry .. and I thought lets make something out of it...looked in the fridge and found some spinach....
You will need:-
- Puff Pastry
- 1 cup Spinach finely chopped
- 1/4 cup Kasoori Methi
- 1/2 cup yellow moon dall-Soaked for about 1 hour
- 1/4 cup green tuver or green peas(used frozen)-thawed
- 1/4 cup Sweet corn(used frozen)-thawed
- 1/2 cup finely chopped dry fruits(Apricot, Dates, prunes and raisins)
- 2 tbsp green chilli and ginger paste
- Garam masala, red chilli powder, salt, cumin and coriander powder-according to your taste
- Dry coconut powder
- Amchoor powder-Dry mango powder
- Fennel seeds powder
- Oil-1 tbsp
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp carom seeds
Heat oil in a heavy bottom pan and spulter mustard and carom seeds, add moon daal, spinach, peas, sweet corn and kasoori methi, let it cook on a very low heat till everything is tender. If you need just sprinkle little water to keep cooking. Now add all the other ingredients and mix really well. Let it further cook about 4-5 minutes. If you want you can mash it with potato masher. Switch of the heat and let it cool.
Cut the puff pastry into small squares or tringles(whatever shape you are fancy) and fill with the Spinach and dryfruit filling. Bake them in the pre heated oven untill lightly brown. Serve with your faviorte dips or great with tea or coffee.
